Lawyers, blogs, and random social events

Rich found out about a gathering of big-name legal bloggers in Cambridge this weekend. In particular, tonight was a semi-public social gathering, to which blog readers were invited. He wanted to go. It sounded interesting, so even though I don't read those blogs often, I went too.

We had a great time! It was small -- twenty-five, maybe thirty people at most -- but we talked ourselves blue in the face. I thought I'd just listen in on law-related conversations that were above my head. Nope. They were genuinely interested in what we knew about the Web, Firefox, RSS, the history of blogging, how effectively blogs drive Google's page rank, and so on. (Piece o' trivia: The first weblog I started reading was Jorn Barger's Robot Wisdom, as long ago as 1998.)

I wish I could remember all the names of people we talked to tonight, but two notable ones were Howard Bashman (of http://howappealing.law.com) and Eugene Volokh (of http://volokh.com).

Rich and I are now one handshake away from Sam Alito. Cool.
